Archangelo
Crelencia was born in December 15, 1968, to
Augusto Buhay Crelencia (U.S. Navy, retired) and
Corazon Umali Crelencia, in Yokosuka Naval Base,
Japan. After spending seven years in Virginia,
his father eventually retired to the Philippines
in 1977.
Fast forward ten
years, Archangelo earned his AAS in
Architectural Drafting at the Jose P. Laurel
School of Arts and Technology. Archangelo moved
to San Diego in 1987.
He signed up for
the Air Force in 1989 as an Audiovisual/Graphics
Specialist. He worked under the Strategic Air
Command in Nebraska, creating graphics and
classified briefing slides. In 1993 he
transferred to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There he joined the esteemed ranks of the U.S.
Air Demonstration Squadron (U.S. Air Force
"Thunderbirds") where he created promotional
material/ illustrations for airshows across the
country and around the world.
In 1996,
Archangelo got out of the military to pursue
graphic design in the private sector. He got his
AAS in Advertising Art and Computer Design at
Triton College in River Grove, Illinois. He then
completed his BFA in Visual Communication at the
Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago in 2003. A
few weeks after graduation he landed a job as an
art director for RPM Advertising. There he
became the storyboard artist for commercials and
advertisements.
Currently
Archangelo is Senior Designer at Primitive Inc.
where he's involved with print and web design.
Freelance projects include illustrations for
book covers and website design. Archangelo's
inspiration comes from anything sci-fi,
animation, music and comic art.
