A photographer,
artist, writer, gardener-in-training, and
advocate for the health of people and the
planet, including organic and non-toxic living
as a human right, Aireen Joven first fell in
love with photography as a child engrossed in
her family's photo albums.
In 2003, she
graduated with a B.F.A. in Studio
Arts-Photography from Barat College of DePaul
University. In 2004, she won the 2nd Annual
Yarka Vendrinska Memorial Photojournalism
Scholarship and completed the workshop
"Photographs That Make A Difference" at the
Maine Media Workshops with Pulitzer
Prize-winning photographer and Boston Globe
editor, Stan Grossfeld.
Aireen is
currently studying early childhood education,
and in the future would like to combine her
interests in children, sustainable living,
learning from nature, art & design, and the
spiritual yet radical yet practical vision set
forth in her favorite book series, The Ringing
Cedars by Vladimir Megre. With her partner
Adam, she co-writes and photographs for a blog,
The Hot Potato (http://thehotpotato.wordpress.com).
She lives in Glenview, Illinois.
